Clashes Erupt in Kurram District: Military Operation Concludes with Over 150 Militants Killed

Parachinar – Tensions have escalated in Kurram District after an armed attack on passenger vehicles resulted in over 40 fatalities. The incident sparked widespread protests, with markets in several areas shutting down in solidarity. Both federal and provincial governments have engaged in negotiations with local tribal leaders to restore peace.

In response, the Pakistan Army, supported by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, launched a comprehensive military operation. According to official reports, over 150 militants were killed, and five key planners were captured alive for trial in military courts. The operation, now reportedly concluded, was closely covered by Pashto media, marking a first in Pakistan's military history.

During the operation, a series of explosions caused by gas cylinders in local markets led to extensive property damage, with multiple shops destroyed. Tragically, two soldiers were martyred in gunfights with the Taliban militants. Their remains were transferred to the 19th Brigade’s 121st Platoon in Parachinar.

The military has expressed condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of civilians. Officials hope the region will see an end to the heinous targeting of women and children along dangerous routes.

All military personnel are now withdrawing from the area, having successfully completed their mission. This operation, which allowed media coverage, highlights a new chapter in transparent counter-terrorism efforts in Pakistan.
